New Years Eve Snacks
Don't stress about having some company over for drinks on New Year's....there's always store bought dip or sushi.
Here's a better idea: You can make these easy hors d'oevres for your New Year's Eve guests.....serve with a good bottle of champagne (Billecart Salmon Rose is my fave), and everyone will be impressed.
I threaded fancy toothpicks with good quality salami, Comte cheese and cornichons.
Served w/ a mustard sauce on the side. You can make these ahead and they are a nice little bite to go with champagne.
How about these delicious fegatini all toscana?.....which is really Jewish chopped chicken liver on toasts!
I make my own chopped liver with lots of sauteed onions in chicken fat and hard boiled egg (my grandma's recipe), but if you have a good market or butcher, then by all means buy some.
Spread on crostini and just before serving, shave on some egg and maybe capers.....chopped parsley to finish.
Our favorite.
Another simple idea are these skewered Brussels sprouts with bacon jam.
You steam the sprouts for 3 minutes just to get them a nice bright green color, then saute them in a skillet to brown.
You can make your own bacon jam, as the recipe says.....but I cheated and bought Trader Joe's delicious bacon garlic jam to make life much easier.
Serve at room temperature. These are delicious!
The recipe from Epicurious is here.
Have a wonderful, happy, prosperous, healthy new year!!!!
