A Platter of Grilled Figs w/ Burrata & Mint
I know you've been waiting for a fig post. Finally.
Fresh figs really go well paired with any cheese.
There's nothing more beautiful in the summer than a platter of grilled figs with a wedge of cheese and some nuts. Drizzled with honey or just plain.
Usually a nice Fourme D'Ambert or some type of blue is best paired with this sexy fruit, but for the stinky cheese haters out there (like my husband), I paired grilled fresh figs w/ the amazing burrata cheese. If you can't find burrata (which can be difficult in some parts of the U.S.), then use fresh mozzarella packed in water......or just make your own!
Slice the figs in half and grill them in an oiled grill pan for a minute on each side, until they become jammy and ooze goodness (you can also just serve them fresh if you like).
Plate hunks of bufala mozzarella or burrata on a platter surrounded by some greens.
Lay the hot figs over the cheese and greens and sprinkle w/ walnuts and fresh mint leaves. The mint does something wonderful to the combination, instead of using the usual fresh basil accompaniment.
Sprinkle all over w/ Maldon sea salt and drizzle w/ good olive oil.
A drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar is most welcome.
Enjoy!

Of course, any fresh mozzarella cheese packed in water would be just fine.
