Antique Collecting Series #4: Monograms
Meatless Mondays; Tuesday Tarts; Antique Fridays.
I am such a type A personality. I always have to have plans.
Here is post #4 in my antique collecting posts.
It's all about monograms for me, especially other people's fancy antique monograms.
Whether it be silver, china, linens or boxes, I love monograms and personalization.
It showed ownership and meant that someone had the item specially made for them.
It's so nice to receive a gift with your own personal monogram.
I received these lovely paper coasters as a housewarming gift years ago and I use them all the time.
Here is some of my monogrammed junk that I love (it's not really "junk", but you might think so!).
I actually carried this bakelite monogrammed handbag for a while, but now it's for sale in my shop.
Whiskey and spirit barrels and jugs were often monogrammed.
Hey, don't drink from my stash!
Have a nice weekend!

No I live in PA..Bucks County now, originally from around there though, so I don't get to that area of NJ too often. But I'll certainly check it out if I'm ever up there.Usually go just as far as Lambertville, which is always a fun place to shop! But good to know.

As a kid I loved my monogrammed clothing, stationery, etc. a passion that has carried over into my adulthood. When I received my first paycheck I went to the linen store and ordered monorammed towels. remember them so well. The towels were a creamy beige, and the monogram was a woven brown thread. My roommate bought some too. Hers wee white with a navy blue monogram. We were the classiest cleanest nurses on teh floor!
I remember our china at home. It was Dorothy Thorpe. Inset along the left side of the plates, with a slight curve along its back was a slender stylized "C". for Crocetti.
I still have my Vera Bradley things monogrammed. It is nice to meet another lover of the form.
I enjoy musing about what the owners' names might have been when when I look at the silverware, tableware and glasses I have collected over the years.
And now for the real important part - YOUR STORE?!! What is this? Where is it? Are you online? As a (relatively) new reader, I had no idea. I can't wait to hear!
If you read my profile page, I am an antiques dealer and appraiser by profession, however, I love to cook, so created a food blog about 5 years ago.
I have been buying antiques my whole life but started selling them about 20 years ago.
I sell in a local shop in NJ.
I also have 3 sets of plates with our monogram on them! I love them!
Best, Stacey
I am sorry, Agness is not for sale, she is in my collection at home!
Thanks for asking!
Stacey
I've noticed the ad that runs underneath my caricature is different for each region. On my computer, it always seems to be for clothing/shoes/hotels, and anything I have searched for previously on google.
Hey, at least it isn't a photo of ME in a teddy looking for a date!
:)
Thank you for sharing these with us.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Donna
Do not sell that bakelite handbag!!!
