Provence: A Room with a View
We arrived in sunny Aix-en-Provence yesterday by high speed train from Paris.
First let me say I am ill-prepared for Provence. I had no idea it was 90F degrees with a blazing hot sun. What the heck is wrong with me? Why didn't anyone tell me?
The no white pants after Labor Day rule does NOT apply here. It's tank tops, sandals and sundresses for the month of Septembre. I packed only one pair of shorts, so I will have to work around them.
The food is sunny and Mediterranean. Lots of olives, tapenades, eggplants and tomatoes. My kind of food.
Our home away from home is this amazing townhouse, Maison D'Aix. And I am not kidding, when I say "amazing".
It is a fully renovated townhouse in the middle of the city, in walking distance to everything.
A gorgeous kitchen with large dining room.
A large living room, with artwork and many amenities.
Funky super modern bathroom w/ tub and shower.
And the best thing of all is the balcony where we can see the terracotta rooftops and enjoy our breakfast and wine.
Thank goodness I brought sunscreen!
More tomorrow about the food, what else?
