Simple Pleasures: Radishes, Butter & Sea Salt

It doesn't get any easier than this.

I mistakingly bought this strange variety of radish, thinking that they were carrots, until I took a bite and tasted the white spicy inside! It's a radish dummy!

So I had no choice but to eat radishes, sea salt & butter. Poor me.

How can something so simple taste so good? It just does.

You can use any variety of radishes that you like, and any sea salt.
I made a compound herb butter by putting a lump of unsalted Irish butter in a bowl and waited until it came to room temperature.

I threw in a handful of fresh snipped chives and a handful of chopped fresh parsley.

Once the butter was soft enough, I mixed it together and spooned it into a ramekin.

Toast up some baguette slices (do an hour before so the toasts are cool), and swipe the yummy herb butter on the bread, don't be stingy, spread it on!

Slice some radishes and place them on top of the butter, and let everyone sprinkle some nice sea salt on top of that.

Simple is best.

Love those long radishes you found. I learned about this terrific treat when I lived in France; I learned to love radishes while I was there.

I love radishes. Just thinking this morning that I'm out, and unfortunately Trader Joes, my shopping destination du jour, only carries nasty knobby bagged ones. Freshness is especially important with radishes. Every night I mini matchstick up 4 radishes in my salad. What are the right words for, how do you describe, the beautiful color of radishes?

I've served it without the toast but totally doing the toasts next time. Super yum. Quinoa recipe coming your way this am.

Beautiful. I do something similar, but I use really fresh cocktail rye bread, smear it with Irish butter and top it with radishes ( the French breakfast variety). Your version looks delicious. Have a great day. Blessings...Mary

I'm not really a HUGE radish fan but I have a bunch sitting in my fridge that I need to do SOMETHING with. And here you are. Perfect!

I read about this - somewhere - and now make it a point to do some variation of this regularly. Don't you love that the chives are in?

You've given me the yen for this herb butter and radishes. When I was little, my grandfather always grew radishes, and radish salads have been a fav since then. Never saw those long radishes. I would have mistaken them for carrots too.

Herb butter is the perfect way to add a flavor kick to any sandwich
I've seen Ina make radish sandwiches on I think it was on her Paris show, simple elegant, but I want your radishes!

Stacey you turned me on to radishes with butter and sea salt last year when I got tons of radishes in my CSA box. Thank you so much - simple yet remarkable!

Wow, i have never seen long radishes before. I don't think you can purchase them here in Australia. They look so cute :)

I feel the same way about the crack pie. Not on the sweet part, I do love my desserts sweet, but it just didn't do anything for me. And for that price the slice is miniscule - definitely not worth it. Their cookies are the way to go!

I just made these last night with some watermelon radishes. Wow - So good, the chives in the butter with the radish and the sea salt, crunchy bread, it was all so simple and so perfect ( i thought I grabbed parsley and it was cilantro so that went inot the butter). My husband asked if I could make them again tonight - guess this recipe is a keeper!

I did the same thing. I planned to roast them, began cutting them only to discover they were white inside. I took a bite, and what a bite it had!
