Easiest Appetizer: Caprese Skewers
I was asked to bring some hors d'oevres to a party last weekend, and I was lucky to find some nice little colorful heirloom cherry tomatoes at the grocery store.
They were sweet as candy.
This is a take on Marie's tortellini skewers from months back, but this time I did not use tortellini, I stuck with a classic Caprese recipe.
Mozzarella, tomatoes and basil.
This would be a perfect holiday appetizer, it's like a taste of summer in every bite!
If you don't have 6" wooden skewers (which can be hard to find), use the extra long ones found in the Asian section of most markets.
This time I used marinated bocconcini (means "little mouthfuls").
But you can use regular fresh mozzarella balls packed in water.
No rules in this house.
Thread each skewer with a cherry tomato, then a basil leaf folded in half, then a mozzarella ball.
Drizzle balsamic vinegar and olive oil over the skewers before serving.
These are not only visually appealing, but so easy and delicious!

Perfect appetizer any time of the year, they always look so nice on a table.
This must have gotten oohs and ahhs.
